As a modeler I value a textured grip on my mouse, especially when working quickly. To test textures and feel, I started a side project using clay to model simple shapes for the correct proportions of my hand. After this, I created several variants in Subdivision on Rhino. I chose the best shape and 3D printed it for testing, before creating the final model in Alias. Inspired by an armadillos’ robustness, I selected a triangular matrix shape for the texture which I programmed using Grasshopper. The final model was rendered in Blender.
